Hello, My name is Tim Maxwell, and I’m a Doctor of Audiology at Inman Audiology. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Michigan State University and received my doctorate degree in Audiology from Wayne State University. I have my Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and I am a member of the American Academy of Audiology.
My relationship with the field of audiology is quite personal, and I have experienced it intimately from different perspectives. From the age of 5, I first learned of audiology when I was told by an audiologist that I have hearing loss and tinnitus. I was then a firsthand witness to the devastating isolation that can occur with hearing loss while observing some family members try to cope with the condition. I went on to become an audiologist, experiencing the field intellectually from a clinician’s point of view. Most recently as a parent, I discovered that my son has single-sided-deafness. I was thrust into a new and unexpected perspective, navigating the emotions and life planning that accompanies learning such news, including the decision to get him a cochlear implant surgery. Being able to hear the world through the filter of hearing loss, witnessing a full range of its potential effects, and having to personally walk the path of a parent processing a diagnosis of hearing loss in their child has shaped me into a more effective and empathetic clinician and patient advocate. It gives me great pride and sense of purpose to utilize my experiences to deliver well informed and compassionate care to my patients.
I spent the first decade of my career working as a clinical audiologist for Kaiser Permanente in Denver, Colorado. I’m thrilled to be home and raising my young family in metro Detroit, while continuing to share my expertise in hearing healthcare and tinnitus management with our patients at Inman Audiology.
Every patient deserves a care team that is not only highly proficient and knowledgeable, but one that takes time to truly listen to their story and learn about their hearing journey. At Inman Audiology, we hold this core belief so we can meet patients where they are. I hope to one day see you in my office and hear your story.
Our staff hold themselves to the highest ethical standards and continually expand our knowledge through continuing education beyond our advanced degrees. We have the experience necessary to work with you to find the right devices and perform accurate hearing tests to treat your hearing loss most effectively. The most important thing is getting you the care that you need as soon as possible. Don’t wait!
