The cost of the device typically reflects the complexity of the internal computer chip and its ability to process noise. There are three main technology tiers; the more time you spend processing demanding, complex noise, the more advanced the chip needs to be.
Tier 1: Entry-Level
- Best For: Individuals with quiet, simple, and predictable listening needs. This type of device is ideal for individuals who spend most of their time at home, reading, watching TV, or having quiet one-on-one conversations.
- Key Features: Basic amplification, fixed directional microphones, and manual program switching (you press a button to change the settings). These devices are excellent for restoring audibility in quiet settings.
- Our Advice: If your lifestyle is primarily quiet, paying for higher-tier features will provide you with almost no added benefit.
